In the New York Tri-State area, our journey began under the name Petrillo Contracting Corporation and its subsidiary, Petco Homes Inc. Petrillo Contracting Corporation was a full-service, multi-faceted building company, renowned for its expertise in constructing distinguished office facilities and quality residences. Among its notable projects was the award-winning AAA Headquarters building in Garden City, New York, a testament to our commitment to excellence and meticulous craftsmanship.

Petco Homes Inc. carried this legacy into residential construction, building homes in Northern Bergen County and Long Island. Known for reviving old-world quality and classic architectural detail, Petco Homes earned a stellar reputation for its timeless designs. Features like extensive moldings, cathedral ceilings, and skylights created elegant, spacious, and bright living environments. With a focus on quality control, most work was completed in-house, leaving only specialized tasks like masonry, plumbing, and HVAC to trusted subcontractors. Petco Homes was also a registered builder with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.

The Charlotte Evolution
Relocating to Charlotte marked a pivotal shift in our business focus, transitioning from isolated home construction to large-scale tract development. Our first major project, the Deerfield Creek community, encompassed 154 acres on Tilley Morris Road in southern Charlotte. This planned community featured approximately 218 homes and was spotlighted in Builder/Architect magazine for its innovative approach to development.

Building on the success of Deerfield Creek, Sunbelt Utilities Corp. was established in 1999 to meet the growing demand for infrastructure development in Charlotte and beyond. As a premier site work and utility contractor, Sunbelt Utilities provides turnkey services, from land clearing to utility installation, ensuring seamless project execution for developers and communities.
